Homs bombarded amid new wave of bloodshed in Syria
Bashar Al-Assad’s Syrian army appeared to continue its barrage of mortars and artillery on the ravaged city of Homs where at least 260 people have been killed in recent daysaccording to opposition activists.
The Syrian government has denied bombing Homs, largely seen as a protest hub awash with Syrian Army defectors and Free Syrian Army fighters.
The footage posted on a social media website on Sunday also shows what is claimed to be the remains of a Syrian army tank burnt out after it was attacked by the rebel fighters in the southeastern city of Zabadani.
In the town of Idlib hundreds of people are shown dancing in the streets chanting “Bashar Al-Assad should leave,” with the weekend marking the bloodiest days of the 11-month uprising against the Syrian president.
On Sunday, Foreign Secretary William Hague accused Russia and China of “tipping Syria closer to civil war”after their double veto of a United Nations Security Council resolution on Syria.
