Awaiting response…

[Earlier today]

Assalamu Alaykum wr wb

Things remain the same at the moment; we’re due to head towards Egypt by air whilst a few of our vehicles will be loaded onto a cargo ship. The spaces on the ship for people to accompany the vehicles are limited; I’ve heard different figures, some people saying 60, 40 and others are saying 12. We’re scheduled to have a meeting shortly so I’ll be able to update everyone later on this evening . The convoy is currently stationed in an old scouts resort, similar to a camp site and here we will stay until Sunday. The vehicles will be taken to the port tomorrow so that they can be loaded onto the ships.

[Later today]

 Assalamu alaykum wr wb

Just to let you know, the meeting didn’t really take place; we were just informed that there will be another meeting tomorrow. This happens often, we meet to be told that there is another one, I suppose we are used to this now. InshaAllah tomorrow I’ll have to make sure we clean the van, at the moment it’s an absolute tip and the boxes need to be re-arranged as they have started to fall down from flying over bumps and heavy breaking. In some of the countries, they have speed humps on motorways, that are not well signed and do not have reflective paint on them so when driving 50-60 mph sometimes more, you can imagine what happens to the stuff inside the van when attempting to break in time. Sometimes you don’t have enough distance to break and therefore its better to take the ramp at a higher speed rather than breaking. We also have something that seems to have gone off in the van, so we need to locate where the smell’s coming from.

At the moment we’re out and about in the town centre, spending the day here, here we have access to the net and food and we get to pray in the mosques. Last night we came across a local sweet which we ended up going back to get some more because we liked it so much.

It’s made of vermicelli with cheese in it, I think it’s called kanafa, mashaAllah it’s very nice but dangerously loaded with calories.

how are you bro? hope all is well, we are making lots of dua for you all, and hope everything arrives safely inshaAllah.

Easy on the calories, don’t want you to turn into mr blobby lol!

    take cr

    wa salaam Umm D

    • Asalamu Alaykum sis,

Thanx for the advice about the calories. Yeah it’s easy topile on the calories, especially in these countries with all the white bread they eat here.

Speaking about calories, we had chocloate donuts with choco muffins for breaky, really nice I must admit. You would’ve really liked it, especially the choco muffin.

I’m considering to start training, but that initial pain you get when you train is something I am dreading, especially when traveling like this. Thats the last thing I need at the moment.

InshAllah when I get back, by the will of Allah, it shouldn’t be too long.

Take care and send Salamz to Mum and Dad.

      Lil Bro

  2. Salaams,

My dad sent me the link to your blog and now its bookmarked and I check it daily!

I simply loathe the egyptian government at the moment. Subhanallah how they are going to answer to Allah (swt)?
What I wouldn’t give for 5 mins alone with Hosni Mubarak. Just me him and a pair of boxing gloves!

Anyway, I’m praying for you (and the aid) to reach Gaza safely and quickly inshallah.

    Take care,

    your cousin.

  3. Asalamu Alaykum wr wb

Jazakillah khayr for the dua, support and interest, it’s really needed at the moment. We’re all anxious and awaiting the green light from Egyptians to let us in.

I know how you feel regarding Husni, I think he’s earned himself a place in history alongside people such as Ibn Alqami. To Allah we return, the most stern and swift in rekoning.

Please send our salams to your family and may Allah reward them for efforts.

    Take care

    Layth
